Summary

The use of CSC's computing, cloud and storage services is based on billing units (BUs). BUs are used to allocate resources, monitor their use, and to charge users who purchase our services.

Description

Billing units are used to give normalised description and metrics of all resource usage of CSC's cloud services - free and paid.

To give you an idea of what this service costs if bought and used commercially, a package of 20 000 BU's is 420 Euros (VAT excluded)¹, or approximately 2,1 cents / BU. Usage is free of charge² for academic and research use.

A billing unit is defined individually for each of our services. Below is a table summarising the billing unit consumption per service.

Although the service is free for teachers and students, it is good to know the approximate cost in euros so that students have an idea of what the service would cost if used commercially.
