Description

Allas is an object storage service based on Ceph.

The object storage differs from a normal file system in that files must be copied out of object storage for modification and then copied back into object storage. They cannot be modified while they are in object storage.

This also applies to the Allas service.

Object storages store files into containers called 'buckets'1. Buckets and files in them can be accessed through the same portal as the cPouta service.

They can also be accessed with third-party tools such as CyberDuck (macOS) or via the command line.2

Access to these containers can be granted via the MyCSC project membership (controlled access) or a container can be published as public (uncontrolled read-only access).

The default amount of storage for the Allas service is 10 TB per MyCSC project.
